Background:

In Gerhard’s blog post providing an overview of the innovations for maintenance management and resource scheduling in SAP S/4HANA Cloud 2208, there is reference to a new query released for Scheduling a Maintenance Plan (C_MaintPlanSchedgOvwQuery). Link to Whats New

In order for Maintenance Planners to easily query this data, I would recommend exposing this CDS View/Query as a Fiori application and adding it into a business catalog for them. This will give a similar style of reporting capability from older SAP ECC transactions such as IP19/IP24 with a self service capability.

How to:

  • Pre-requisites: This is based on S/4HANA Cloud 2208, you also need the role for the Analytics Specialist BR_ANALYTICS_SPECIALIST
  • Open app View Browser and search for the query C_MaintPlanSchedgOvwQuery
  • Select it by using the check-box on the left – this enables the Create Application option on the top bar.
  • Select Create Application

  • Give your application a Title and Subtitle

Window%3A%20Create%20Application

  • An Application ID will be generated, click on Application ID and choose View in Catalog in the popup window

  • SAP will open the Custom Catalog Extensions app, where you can assign this new application to one of the existing Business Catalogs.
  • Click the Add button, in the popup window search for a catalog such as EAM – Maintenance Plan to add it to.
  • Click the Checkbox to select the row, and select Publish.

  • Once the app is published (may take ~1 minute), it will be available in the catalogs and be good to use.
  • You can now see the app on your Fiori Launchpad, or pull it in from the App Finder. In my example below, I have added the tile to the Insights section of the new My Home page released in 2208.

The Final Result:

  • The App itself has a series of Measures and Dimensions you can use to create your overview. Once you have created your view, you can save layouts/views as defaults or save it as a new tile.

If you have any questions, the Q&A area at the SAP S/4HANA Cloud for Asset Management community is a great starting point for all members to see and respond to all queries.

Otherwise, let me know in the comments if you’ve been able to create some great grid/graphical views for Maintenance Planning Overviews.
