At the beginning of the 3rd quarter of the year 2022, SAP Profitability and Performance Management 3.0 (PaPM) released a support package (SP18) that includes new features and enhancements for PaPM On-Premise.

Along with the newly released Support Package (SP18), we are now releasing the first SAP Note to guide users to the new features, enhancements, and improvements that Visual Modeler has to offer.

As a quick overview, I would like to encourage you to also read the blogpost SAP Profitability and Performance Management 3.0 Support Package 18 created for the Support Package (SP18) release.

Now, let me walk you through the interesting Features, Enhancements, and Improvements covered by SAP Note 3211293 FS-PER Rel. 3.0 SP19 Visual Modeler Screens Enhancements and Fixes (1)

Environment Screen

  • This SAP Note simplifies and optimizes the export of PDF file of Environment’s History Version from the Comparison Screen. Even if all lines are expanded, exporting a PDF file is still successful and smoother.

Note: User can perform Export PDF in “unified” view or “side-by-side” view.

Modeling Screen

  • On top of the enhancements and improvements, the new information Function called Model Join has also been introduced in this Visual Modeler. The use of this function is almost the same as the processing function Join with a little difference. Sounds interesting right? To know more about the Model Join Function, you may refer to the blogpost SAP PaPM Cloud is introducing a new information Function called Model Join to fully understand the functionality and benefits of Model Join Function.

  • The Advanced section in the Properties Panel is now editable. Users can now maintain DB Connection and RFC Destination.
  • Users can now enjoy using and saving scale sets and see the changes after refreshing the modeling screen.

  • I’m glad to inform you that, when an activity is cut from the source process template it is saved smoothly.

  • The enhancement of values being offered in the dropdown of parameter value selection in process and report management screen are restricted to the assigned values from modeling process template. Kindly see the details below to fully understand.

          Process Management Screen

  1. Value selections offered in parameters in Process Management Screen are restricted to the values defined from Modeling Screen. For example, in I_CH_CUST parameter user defined C001, C002 and C003 in the value selection, the values that were offered in the dropdown of the parameter once user goes to Process Management Screen will only be C001, C002 and C003.
  2. When there are no value selections defined in the parameter field in Modeling, all master data values of the parameter will be offered once the user goes to Process Management.
  3. When the parameter field has no master data and the user defines value selection from Modeling, the defined value selections are visible in the parameter field once the user goes to Process Management Screen.
  4. When the parameter field has no master data and the user did not define value selection from Modeling, the parameter field in Process Management Screen will not display any value.

       Report Management Screen

  1. When there are no value selections defined in the parameter field in Modeling, all master data values of the parameter will be offered once the user goes to Report Management. For example, in I_CH_CUST parameter the user defines C001, C002 and C003 in the value selection, the values that will be offered in the dropdown of the parameter once the user goes to Report Management Screen will only be C001, C002 and C003
  2. When parameter field has no master data and the user defines value selection from Modeling, the defined value selections will be visible in the parameter field once the user goes to Report Management Screen.
  3. When parameter field has no master data and the user did not define value selection from Modeling, the parameter field in Report Management Screen will not display any value.
  4. When parameter field has no master data and the user did not define value selection from Modeling, the parameter field in Report Management Screen will not display any value.
  • Creating and saving a BW Writer (without configurations) has been optimized to ensure that necessary configurations are possible in case Modeling screen is refreshed.

  • Additional enhancement for Model Table Hana, deleted mapped field in sync screen will no longer appear in Fields option when sync screen is minimized
  • When changing a field type to STRG – Character String (CLOB), the Lower case is now ticked and greyed out.
    • STRG Field Enhancement

      • Model Table
    • If the Market Data Area is not required, it will not show any validation if it remains blank when creating a Conversion Type.
  • Copying of Valuation function has been optimized to ensure that activation and execution will run smoothly.
  • Auto-link when adding a function in between two connected functions is now enhanced so that dragging an existing function in between two functions will also work.
  • Data row count in the data table should update immediately and correctly after adding a new value to an empty row.

Visualize Screen / Report Management Screen

  • This is an enhancement where annotations added in one layout variant are not applied to any other layout

There you have it! Once this note is implemented, the New Features and Enhancements will be available in your system.
