Hello Colleagues,
In this blog post, I would like to provide you insights on how you can do mass upload of Buckets in SAP Portfolio & Project Management (SAP PPM).
As we know that the Portfolio and Bucket structure requires recreation in each client. And if you have to create lots of buckets and sub-buckets as part of your portfolio structure, it can take a lot of time to do it manually.
In order to avoid repetition of same work in each client you can use the mass upload programs to create your bucket structure.
To perform mass creation of your bucket structure you can use the t-code rpm_dx_bucket or program rpm_dx_bucket provided by SAP. The program/transaction is available in both SAP S/4 HANA and ECC.
From the transaction itself, you can download the upload template in XLS or XML or LFN format, using the display DX layout and selecting the file type.
Once you have the template fill in the required fields. In the Upload Template you need to enter the following details, though these are self explanatory, I will just add the important ones..
External ID: This is your external Bucket Identification not the GUID for the bucket which you want to be created.
Portfolio ID: External ID of your portfolio not the GUID
Bucket ID: Root Bucket under which you want the sub-buckets to be created. Again this is also external ID and not the GUID
Status: It would be 002 (for active/release)
Then we have dates for Capacity Planning and financial planning
If you are not sure on what values to enter for Period or Currency or Unit or any other field, you can check your data in the bucket table /RPM/BUCKET_D and use that as your reference to update the upload sheet..
The program allows you to create or change or delete a Bucket or Buckets.
In the below example I am uploading these three buckets. First in test and then in actual mode..
You can run the program in test mode to check for any errors before performing the mass upload.
No errors were encountered for the upload in test mode..
In case of no errors you can run the program in actual and later check the created buckets in your Portfolio..
Checking the same from the front-end..
As you can see that the listed buckets are created successfully under the relevant Bucket & Portfolio.
hope this helps!!
Cheers- Sammar
