On April 3rd, 2023, SAP Host Agent release 7.22, patch level 60 has been made available in the SAP Software Download Center. With this patch level, SAP has changed the build process to use newer compilers, which will require newer C/C++ runtime versions on the server where the SAP Host Agent is being installed. This decision was made in alignment with SAP’s release strategy for the 7.2x kernel releases as documented in SAP Note 1744209.
For users of the operating system IBM i (“OS/400” in the SAP download portal), this means that an operating system release of IBM i 7.1 or above is required to install the SAP Host Agent at release 7.22, patch level 60. If you try to install it on an earlier release, the command saphostexec -upgrade will fail with error messages similar to these:
Could not load program saphostexec:
Symbol resolution failed for saphostexec because:
Symbol __run_final_dtors (number 275) is not exported from dependent
module /usr/lib/libc.a[shr_64.o].
Symbol __run_initial_ctors (number 276) is not exported from dependent
module /usr/lib/libc.a[shr_64.o].
Examine .loader section symbols with the 'dump -Tv' command.
If you see this error, we recommend that you upgrade to a higher IBM i release in order to stay current and receive support from both IBM and SAP. If you cannot upgrade to a higher IBM i release, you can still use the SAP Host Agent release 7.22 up to patch level 59 on older releases of IBM i.
