Overview: In 2302, we now provide migration support functions to help you activate and go live with SAP S/4HANA for group reporting with a focus on the transfer of data from SAP Financial Consolidation as a “legacy” application.

The new migration support function includes:

  • Export transactional data from SAP Financial Consolidation to Group Reporting Data Collection – Mapping
  • Example mapping definition to transform transactional data of the SAP Financial Consolidation starter kit to SAP S/4HANA for group reporting best practice content item 1SG allowing to extract the transformed data into a flat file
  • Import transformed transactional data file into SAP S/4HANA with a loader program provided as a service.
  • New SAP Financial Consolidation function for extraction via “report bundles” and calling GRDC mapping.
  • New SAP S/4HANA “data loader” program to import consolidated data from SAP Financial Consolidation to SAP S/4HANA for group reporting.

In this Blog, I would like to cover the key migration process architecture and how to implement the migration program into a customer landscape in detail and step by step.

As part of the S4 Group Reporting product strategy, our SAP customers are currently undergoing the S4 Group Reporting transformation. As part of the consolidation process implementation in S4 HANA Group Reporting, customers need to migrate historical data from their legacy tools such as BOFC, SEM-BCS, BW-BPC, and Hyperion including FCCS and Onstream into Group Reporting for the purpose of comparison and analytics.

To address the various requests from our customers, we have developed a mass historical data upload program that simplifies the process of migrating historical data. This program enables customers to seamlessly transfer their historical data into Group Reporting, ensuring a smooth transition and facilitating effective analysis.

The overall BOFC to Group Reporting Architecture:   This architecture process only covers the end-to-end BOFC migration process and assumes that the customer is already on the SAP BTP Group Reporting Data Collections (GRDC) platform.  If the customers are migrating from any other consolidation platform into S4 HANA Group Reporting, still they have the option to leverage this SAP-ABAP Content program to import the historical data in the specified format in the How to Guides.

How to deploy or import the SAP’s Consulting/Content Hub delivered Migration Program

To deploy or import the SAP Consulting/Content Hub delivered Migration Program, customers and partners now have the option to leverage the SAP ABAP program. This program facilitates the import of bulk historical data into Group Reporting. To simplify the process, we have provided two comprehensive “How to Guides” for your convenience:

  1. S4HANA Group Reporting – Data Loader Technical Guide: This guide offers detailed technical instructions on how to utilize the Data Loader program for importing data into Group Reporting. It provides step-by-step guidance for a successful implementation.
  2. S4HANA Group Reporting – Data Loader User Guide: This user-friendly guide provides clear instructions on how to prepare and load data into Group Reporting using the Data Loader program. It offers a seamless experience for users during the data import process.

These guides aim to streamline and simplify the deployment and utilization of the Migration Program, ensuring a smooth and efficient data migration process into Group Reporting.

S4HANA Group Reporting -Data Loader Technical Guide:

This How-to Guide provides comprehensive technical guidance on importing and implementing SAP’s Consulting delivered ABAP program. Its purpose is to facilitate the direct import of Group Reporting historical data into the ACDOCU table for all document types and posting levels. The program is designed specifically to load only historical data in the specified upload format. It can be utilized to import historical data from any legacy system as long as it adheres to the prescribed format.

This guide provided the end-to-end package with the co-data files and transport details to import the program.

We suggest, first implementing this program in a customer Sandbox or Development environment, then deploying it into Quality and Production systems.

S4 HANA Group Reporting -Data Loader User Guide

The Group Reporting Data Loader tool serves as a crucial component in the data migration process, specifically designed to handle the validation, conversion, and uploading of data from legacy Financial Consolidation products into the Group Reporting ACDOCU format. By utilizing this tool, organizations can seamlessly transition their data into the ACDOCU table, ensuring accuracy and consistency in reporting.

When preparing the data for import, it is essential to provide an input CSV file that adheres to the required structure. The first row of the CSV file should include a header row that includes mandatory fields. These mandatory fields act as key identifiers and help map the data accurately into the ACDOCU table during the conversion and upload process.

Formats and Global technical field names are provided in the how-to guide.

Functional Prerequisites:

Functional: 1SG Content, Group Reporting key master data elements include, Consolidation Version, and Consolidation Chart of Accounts.

Consolidation Version: The consolidation version used should be a historical version exclusively. It is important to note that this version should not be assigned to the Task Group. If the version is assigned to the Task Group, a validation error will occur during the data load process.

The Data Loader has the 3 execution modes:

  • Test Run – Displays the list of ACDOCU records that will be uploaded along with error messages if any when validating the mandatory fields. Only 10,000 records or less are displayed. All the processed records can be viewed in table zfincs_acdocu_in (Data in this table will be available until the Dataloader tool is executed another time which will delete the contents of the table).
  • Update Run – This mode can only be executed if there are no errors from the mandatory field’s validation. Only 10,000 records or less are displayed. All the processed records can be viewed in table zfincs_acdocu_in (Data in this table will be available until the Data loader tool is executed another time which will delete the contents of the table).

Delete & Update – Existing ACDOCU records that match the user input criteria in the General Selection tab of the initial screen are deleted and new ACDOCU records that match the same criteria from the uploaded CSV file are inserted into the table.

To obtain the two aforementioned how-to guides, along with their corresponding Codata files and file formats, how can I proceed?

The above said, two how guides are updated in our S4 HANA Group Reporting FAQ OSS Note  :2659672 – FAQ About SAP S/4HANA Finance for Group Reporting (On Premise) – SAP ONE Support Launchpad
