BAS features or extensions may vary slightly in different environments. If you need to use SAP Fiori tools but your BAS tenant hasn’t gotten it installed by default. In which case, no worry about it. You can install it manually by yourself.

Using this mechanism, you can view and install VS Code Extensions from the VSX Open Registry at your own risk. SAP does not certify or endorse any of the third-party sites or Extensions, and they are not part of SAP Business Application Studio. You must ensure that you have and maintain all the necessary rights to use these Extensions. You are responsible for all aspects of the Extensions, including maintenance, management, security, and support. You will assume all responsibility for any negative effects caused by or relating to the Extensions. SAP may elect, in its sole discretion, to disable any dev space that includes Extensions that cause system malfunction or that SAP reasonably believes may cause harm to SAP systems.”

Step 1: Download SAP Fiori tools Extensions

To download the extensions, please open each of the links SAP Fiori tools – XXX listed under Included Extensions in SAP Fiori Tools – Extension Pack:

Click on Download Extension and save each vsix folder in your local folder.

Compress the folder that includes all the extensions.

Step 2: Upload Extension Artifacts to BAS

Then, you should upload the extension artifacts into the BAS dev space. Here we provide one of the methods to upload them.

Start command SAP Business Application Studio: Import Project.

Choose the zip file you just provided.

Step 3: Install Extensions

To install extensions in the BAS dev space, start the command “Deploy Plugin by Id” and specify the path to vsix files.

In the input box, enter the path where you store the vsix files, for example: local-dir:/home/user/projects/Fiori Tools Extensions:

Once that’s done (it may take a few minutes), please check in the command palettes whether you see Fiori commands. If you see that, you can proceed to create a new Fiori app.

Step 4: Upgrade Extensions

You can check your current extension version through View -> Plugins, for example:

1. Install a new version by following the same progress as the above.

2. Open the terminal, and under ~/.theia/extensions/ you will find all extensions you installed manually. If you tried to install the same extension with several versions, you probably will see them all there.
