In this blog post you learn how to get started with a trial for SAP Landscape Management Cloud. SAP Landscape Management Cloud is a software as a service (SaaS) solution for managing SAP systems in infrastructure as a service (IaaS) environments. It provides cost visibility and analytics at SAP system level and helps you systematically manage system uptimes.

You can now start your 30-day free trial of SAP Landscape Management Cloud, explore how it can help you leverage an on-demand cloud infrastructure effectively, and manage IaaS budget proactively to reduce total cost of ownership.

Key Features Available in the Trial

  • Create patterns to manage SAP system uptime proactively
Define individual schedules to start and stop SAP systems and the underlying cloud infrastructure or to scale in and out SAP systems by starting or stopping application servers as needed.
  • Evaluate cost forecasts and schedule SAP system uptime by applying patterns
Evaluate the cost impact of different patterns, take full advantage of uptime schedules, and minimize system idle times.
  • Run operations
Start and stop or snooze and wake up your SAP systems and the underlying cloud infrastructure as needed, without scheduling patterns.

First Steps

Assign Groups

The trial comes with a simulated SAP system landscape that is discovered automatically after your first log in. As soon as the initial discovery is completed, all systems are Ungrouped:

To get cost estimates for the discovered systems, simulate cost forecasts, or schedule and run operations, you must assign groups to the discovered systems. You either create required groups on the Group Management screen or you create new groups directly during the group assignment.

An interactive guided tour will walk you through these first steps.

We recommend the following logical group assignment for the simulated SAP system landscape:

Grouped systems are then displayed on the Dashboard and on the Landscape screen and the estimated monthly costs are calculated:

Create a Pattern

To manage system uptime proactively, you now can now use ready-to-use patterns created by SAP:

If these patterns do not completely meet your requirements, you can create your own patterns with your individual uptime schedules. Either copy the preconfigured patterns and adjust the copy as required or create your individual pattern from scratch. To do so, take the interactive guided tour on the Patterns screen:

And create for example the following pattern:

Apply a Pattern

Once you have defined patterns that meet your requirements, you can apply these patterns to a whole group or to individual SAP systems. Proceed as follows:

  1. Go to the group containing the SAP systems to which you want to apply the pattern. For example, go to the Development group you have created:
  2. To apply the pattern to all SAP systems assigned to this group, choose Group Operations → Apply Pattern.
  3. In the Apply Pattern dialog, select the pattern for which you want to evaluate the cost forecast or apply to the group.
In the summary, you immediately see an estimate of cost savings due to the reduced uptime. Using the timeframe slider, you can forecast how the costs and savings will develop over three, six, or twelve months:
  4. Finally, activate the pattern and choose Apply. The SAP systems and the underlying cloud infrastructure will now start and stop as defined in the pattern.

Learn More About Analytics

With the embedded edition of the SAP Analytics Cloud solution, SAP Landscape Management Cloud can present cost analysis of SAP systems running in IaaS environments with different views and analysis. Without access to your systems and historical data, you can watch the demo video on the Analytics screen. You will see how the analytics capabilities can provide insights into your IaaS costs with an SAP system-centric view across your entire landscape, helping you manage those costs.
