Microsoft and SAP came up with SAP Analytics Cloud add-in for Microsoft Office through which you can use SAC models or DWC views in excel.

If you are comfortable using Excel functionalities, you can get more out of SAP Analytics Cloud’s planning and analytical capabilities with the help of SAP Analytics Cloud for Microsoft Office plugin. Create Ad-hoc reports, with all the well known native excel functions. Establish live connection to SAP Data Warehouse Cloud for further analysis on DWC views.
The plugin is available for both Microsoft Online and Desktop versions. It supports Planning as well as BI scenarios. You can write-back data into Planning models for business planning.
Use excel reports with features such as filtering, custom formulas, sorting, ranking, hierarchies, data updates, etc and share/create workbooks.
Prerequisites:
- SAP Analytics Cloud Tenant
- SAP Data Warehouse Cloud tenant
- Live connection between SAC and DWC (help)
Steps:
1. Get the add-in:
1.1 Go to this link for Microsoft Apps and click on the “Get it now” button
1.2 It will take you to another page where you need to login to your office account if you are not already logged in and then click on ‘Open in Excel’ button.
1.3 Excel will launch and SAP Analytics Cloud tab will be added, it should look like below image.

2. Connection to SAP Analytics Cloud:
2.1 To connect to your SAC tenant, click on the ‘Sign In’ button, then give your SAC tenant URL and click on ‘Go’ button.
2.2 Input your SAC credentials and click on the ‘Log On’ button.
3. Consuming Data Warehouse Cloud view:
3.1 Click on the ‘Add Table’ button and select the Connection.
3.2 Then select the space.
3.3 Then select your DWC view. You can also use the search bar if there are many.
3.4 The panel on the right controls the view on the left. Add measures, dimensions and filters in rows and columns. Go wild with excel!
