Concento Rapid Data Governance (RDG) is an add-on tool that is based on the SAP ui5 Cloud application. SAP Cloud platform technology is leveraged to design RDG which makes it possible to do the customizing and enhancements using the Standard APIs.

RDG is designed to reduce and automate the number of technical configuration steps required for the MDG implementation. The FIORI-based UI is very easy to navigate and makes it attractive to business users.

This blog is a part of a series that covers different key capabilities provided by Concento RDG.

Replication from MDG to the downstream systems can be a very exhaustive and technical task. in MDG, the traditional DRF set up steps are as below:

  1. Create a new Replication Model
  2. Assign Outbound Implementation
  3. Assign Target Systems for Replication Model & Outbound Implementation
  4. Verify the Outbound Parameter in the Outbound Implementation
  5. Assign Outbound Parameter to
  6. Replication Model and Outbound Implementation
  7. Activate the Replication Model

One of the basic principles of Concento RDG is to bring out multiple configuration screens together on one which is an advantage for users to be able to extend IDOC segments and edit the mapping.
The user interface is designed for everyone to effortlessly navigate around the interface component and set up an interface for seamless data transfer and data manipulation.
Below are the additional steps to configure an interface in RDG:
Step 1: Selec the interface configuration from the home screen.
Step 2: The user needs to enter the relevant information like Replication Model Name, description, assigning the outbound implementation (communication Channel – Defaults from Outbound), Implementation setup, and business system.
Business System’s configuration can be viewed/edited by clicking on the manage business system button given in the below screenshot
Step 3: The interface can be saved by choosing the correct TR
Value Mapping can be modified as below:
Step 1: Select the system for Mapping:

Step 2: After selecting the Business System to ensure the mapping is editable by selecting Edit Mapping:

Step 3: Adjust the mapping accordingly selecting fixed, bypass or transformation, and once done the mapping can be saved using the right package and TR:

IDOC Extension

IDOC extension is a lengthy technical task and RDG helps out the users to be able to perform this task in a simpler way while still keeping all the outputs intact. Below is an example of a traditional step-by-step IDOC extension Vs how it’s done in RDG.

Enhancing an IDOC Type

IDOC extension RDG –

Post selecting edit IDOC, the user will be able to edit or add a new segment to IDOC

Users will now be able to create a new extension, copy from an existing or add a successor to an existing extension by selecting add segment and will be able to edit any existing extensions with edit segment.

Adding Segment

  1. Click on add segment
  2. Give Segment’s name and reference table
  3. Add the fields to the segment and click on save

Editing Segment

To edit a segment, highlight the segment that you wish to edit. Once in edit mode then update the details and save the segment.

Testing of custom Segment Outbound IDOC

RDG makes the Interface Configuration ready to be used and tested in MDG instantly.
