This is a series of blogs written by SAP subject matter experts to prepare you for your journey to SAP S/4HANA. Ready? Let’s go!
Topic #14 is about the SAP Fiori design system and its role in accessing SAP S/4HANA innovations
SAP Fiori is the go-to user interface of SAP S/4HANA. SAP Fiori launchpad offers a role-based, single-access point for business users to access all UIs of SAP S/4HANA, including SAP Fiori apps, as well as visually harmonized classical UIs such as SAP GUI transactions. Therefore, those who don’t implement SAP Fiori will have only a limited benefit from the innovations in SAP S/4HANA.
The UX paradigm of SAP Fiori differs from the classical transaction pattern. Instead of big multipurpose transactions, SAP Fiori offers a navigation network of task-oriented UIs interconnected through SAP Fiori launchpad content. Selectively implementing only some individual SAP Fiori apps breaks the user experience and results in high implementation costs. Therefore, we strongly recommend starting with a copy of the business roles and catalogs delivered by SAP and adjusting them to your needs.
Here are key tools to support your SAP Fiori implementation:
- The SAP Fiori apps reference library lets you explore, plan, and implement SAP Fiori apps as well as classic UIs based on SAP GUI and the Web Dynpro development environment.
- The SAP Best Practices Explorer tool lets you visualize business process flows, including relevant SAP Fiori apps.
- You can quickly activate all SAP Fiori apps of a business role through rapid activation for SAP Fiori task lists.
- You can manage SAP Fiori launchpad content – from apps and technical catalogs, to business catalogs and roles – and visualize pages and spaces.
- To extend and customize the standard content provided by SAP, use the embedded key user in-app extensibility tools.
- You can develop your own custom apps using SAP Fiori elements and these SAP Fiori tools.
