With this blog, I would like to show you how to update the instances that have been already uploaded to the staging tables with the CSV files. Please be aware, that the CSV upload functionality is available as of SAP S/4HANA 2208.

Let’s assume, you have already transferred your data to the staging tables and have 10 instances. You have done some changes to the CSV.File (e.g. added entries, changed some values) and you want to upload this updated CSV.File.

If you try to upload another file with the “updated” instances in the same CSV folder, your validation will fail and you will not be able to proceed.

In the error description of the monitoring page, you will see that your new file contains the duplicate key values:

This “failure” behavior will be changed in the next releases, but, as for now, we offer you to perform the following workaround:

Open the CSV folder, which contains your CSV files, and delete the CSV files that you have used to fill the staging tables.

Now you can validate the file with the updated values one more time.

After the validation is completed successfully, you can transfer data to staging tables.

At this step, the migration cockpit recognizes that the data were from this CSV folder to the staging tables and offers you to overwrite the values.

The data in the staging tables have been updated!
