A new year often brings changes, new innovations, or other news and so it is for the SAP Community Event badges for community driven events. I am excited to share a completely new concept of event badges in SAP Community. With this new approach we would like to encourage you to make your event like SAP Inside Track, SAP Stammtisch, SAP TechNight or any other event initiated by you, more transparent and to get the best out of it. But let me explain more: From 2022 we shift the priorities to all roles you can potentially have at an event. So it doesn’t matter anymore, which event you have organized, at which event you have been a volunteer, a speaker or even an attendee. Yes, also attendees will get badges for attending a community driven event in 2022. Isn’t this great news?
Let me first introduce and show you the new badges – we are going to have four different badges from now on – no matter if it’s a physical, a virtual or a hybrid meeting:
SAP Community Event Organizer
SAP Community Event Volunteer
SAP Community Event Speaker
SAP Community Event Attendee
To earn one of these badges, we have defined some prerequisites, which you can find in the table below.

| Event Organizer 2022 | Community member organizes a community event. The Event Organizer must also publish a blog post about the event (either an announcement or summary post). |
| Event Volunteer 2022 | Community member supports an event with smaller tasks like time keeping or helping online/on site. The Event Organizer must submit the list of volunteers (SAP Community profile names to be sent to community@sap.com). |
| Event Speaker 2022 | Community member speaks at a community event. The Speaker must publish a blog post related to the event (either a summary of the whole event or about the topic which has been presented). |
| Event Attendee 2022 | Community member attends a community event. The Event Organizer is responsible for providing attendee list (SAP Community profile names to be sent to community@sap.com). |
Another requirement for getting a badge assigned is a public & active, authentic & completed profile with a profile image, and the About me section in SAP Community, as well as a completion of minimum one SAP Community tutorial (for example when writing a blog post, you have already finalized the Tour the SAP Community tutorial).
Now you might ask yourself what happens when I speak at several events? Or have attended multiple ones? We have the solution for you 😊 The more active you are the more badges you will earn! As with our other missions, we want to award you when continue to organize/volunteer for/speak at/attend events. Therefore, we have created various progression badges for the different roles. This is what they look like, including the progression steps:
1 star = 5 events
2 stars = 10 events
3 stars = 15 events
4 stars = 20 events
Example: If you attended one event, you get the Event Attendee 2022 badge. If you attend up to 5 events, you get the Event Attendee badge with one star. If you attend up to 10 events, you get the Event Attendee badge with two stars, etc.
On top of these badges, you are also getting the Event Remaker badge which we designed the first time in 2020 to acknowledge all members who went the extra mile and transformed a physical event to a virtual event.

There is another cherry on the cake! We have also created a brand-new badge for the very active and passionate event explorer among us: SAP Community Event Explorer 2022

This badge can be earned, when you complete a mission. You have to prove that you are really experienced in all different roles of an event: organizing, volunteering, speaking and attending. In numbers, you need to get at least 5 community event badges awarded and you need to publish minimum 3 blog posts about the events within a calendar year. One of the 3 posts needs to receive minimum 50 views plus minimum 1 comment and minimum 5 likes. Also, at least one social media post per event has to be published with hashtag #SAPCommunity.
To show the variety of your passion you must alternate between organizing, volunteering, speaking and attending an event but in total it must be 5 events and minimum 1 each. The progression and completion must be sent to community@sap.com to get approved.
One example out of many possible constellations:
- Community member spoke at 1 community event and published 1 blog post with a wrap up of the content he/she presented.
- Community member organized 1 community event and published 1 blog post about it.
- Community member attended 2 community events and published 1 blog post of content presented or sessions participated in.
- Community member volunteered at 1 community event (e.g. moderation).
- One of the minimum 3 posts received 155 views plus 2 comments and 7 likes. (*numbers here are just example numbers).
- Community member posted one social media post per event with hashtag #SAPCommunity.

- blog post:
- Must contain the link to SAP Community Events page https://community.sap.com/events.
- Choose #SAP Community tag as main tag (you may want to add a user tag for the event e.g. #SAPInsideTrack, #SAPStammtisch, #saponlinetrack #saptechnight).
- An event image must be added (can be from this event or from previous events).
- social media post:
- It must contain an image or live snippet (short video) about the event.
- The hashtag #SAPCommunity must be used (you may want to add the event tag e.g. #SAPInsideTrack, #SAPStammtisch, #saponlinetrack #saptechnight).

This is your chance to be the first one who earns this new SAP Community Event Explorer badge! Follow above steps, send us the collection of social media activities and links to the blog posts you have published, altogether with your SAP Community Profile link (https://people.sap.com/) to community@sap.com. After validation, you’ll get the SAP Community Event Explorer badge 2022 uploaded to your SAP Community profile 🙂
